This DELLA 240V 12000 BTU ultra hyper heat R454B refrigerant mini split heat pump has exceeded my expectations, In -7 F degree Milwaukee weather it keep’s up with demand in the lower level, This Della ultra hyper heat split replaced 2 1500 watt resistive hydronic oil filled hydronic baseboard units for this room so 3000 watts continuous when its below 0 weather and a 6K BTU A/C window unit in the summer that would struggle when above 80F or humid , No natural gas at this house built in 1973 so the electric bill is high, , This Della hyper heat unit is heating this area better with less cold spots and with less than 1/3 of the electricity when its 20F degrees ,probably 1/2 of the electric when below 0, I Just recently installed a device that monitors live wattage load with accurate transformer inductance monitoring system in the breaker panel, It reports through WIFI to an APP, I see as high as 1500 watts in defrost i assume because of the resistive heating elements , I believe it has 1 on the bottom pan and 1 on the compressor pump, When ambient air is below 20F seems like it may turn on the heating elements, even when its not in defrost I have to do some more research on the circuits and boards, , Its holds the room temperature at 76F in 35F degree weather with 558 watts draw holding steady, 748 watts at 25F and about 946 watts at 20F , When it was 50 degrees out i saw it only drawing 171 watts and still putting out good heat . At 13F degrees very windy blowing snow weather it is drawing 1,362 Watts steady, When it was -7F December 14 2025 not sure on Watts draw then was, It was still blowing 104F degree air out of the air handler on high blower speed with way better room coverage than the 3000 watts Electric ever did in 10 years, I have measured as high as 122 degree air blowing out of the air handler in above freezing temps , Defrost works great I have seen the defrost melt thick ice buildup in wind driven ice sleet weather, I plan to put a Size:47.2 X 25.2 X 11 inch snow awning on it soon, should help reduce defrost cycles in cold wet snow weather, It needs to be off the ground or it will freeze up the bottom and keep refreezing the defrost water I saw in a review, I uploaded a short video of the bottom at the end of a defrost cycle with water dripping below , I have it 3 ft off the ground on a wall mount, If I was to do it over again I would install it on an elevated ground stand to help with vibration noise sometimes at certain speeds in heating I have a harmonic that travels the house but not to bad, It is normal in heat mode, The Della APP on my android phone works good and the schedule never malfunctions, I don’t use the remote because it has little symbols that I cant see, IT has no words on the remote display or the buttons weird, Besides the remote this unit has been perfect , You will want to use the phone or the remote not both because 1 will override and delete any settings in the phone back to default settings like the air direction up down or left right and schedule will go back to default blank on your phone APP. if you push anything on the remote, You cant force a defrost from the Della+ APP but can with the remote by pushing a button 10 times, hopefully Della can add that to the Della+ app in an update, I will be back to this review in the summer to give the results on the cooling that i am sure will also have great performance and efficiency , I will be installing 2 more smaller 6k or 9k units in upstairs bed rooms in the future
Been using this for about 6 months now, from 90 degrees to -13 this thing works perfectly so far. Its ability to maintain heat in subzero temperatures is impressive.
It heats and cools good. Be advised in the cold, the drain pan freezes the defrosted water freezes, then it builds up all of the way to the top. Defrosting in the freeing cold is next to impossible.
